Simulation of three dimensional lid driven cavity by the lattice Boltzmann method

A lattice Boltzmann method for a three dimensional lid driven cavity of cubic and parallelipedic geometries is developed on a desktop computer; No-slip boundary conditions are implemented by the so called Bounce back boundry conditions and the Dirichlet boundary condition for the upper moving wall is treated by the Zou/He boundary condition. The lattice Boltzmann simulation is carried out using the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) model on a D3Q19 lattice and the three-dimensional flow is examined for different Reynolds numbers. The availability of this method is demonstrated by this simulation which allows complex geometry problems to be solved more easily than by classical methods.
